The 12 days of follow up - Day 1

On the first day of follow up, my new friend sent to me
A thank you card in my mailbox.
Welcome to the first part of our 12 part series on following up with customers and clients...as well as friends and family.

Today works out really well because not only is this the first of the 12 days of Christmas (it can start on either Christmas Day or the day after), it's also a Monday and Thank You Note Day.

The thank you card is one of the most frequently sent cards in business and can range from thank you for being a customer to thank you for giving us the chance to bid on your project to thank you for being a friend.

One of the most powerful things you can do for your business, as well as personal, relations is to be very generous with your thanks. And although there are many different ways of giving thanks, such as sending an email or a text, sending a card through the mail is still one of the most powerful.

Some of the most successful salespeople have built their success by sending thank you cards. Joe Girard, named in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most cars sold by a salesperson in a year, had a full time staff that sent 13,000 cards a month, some were thank you cards, birthday cards, and whatever else he could think of during the year, to all past clients. Another success was Tom Hopkins who is now a top sales trainer in the world. Find out more about Tom in last Tuesday's blog post. And of course there's Mary Kay Ash (this article is from my friend Lynn Huber), who urged her consultants to send three thank you cards a day.

Here is an example thank you card from SendOutCards:

Just click on the link above and you can send this card to anyone you please. And if you're not a customer yet, you can send it for free.

Here's a video from The Art of Manliness on how to send a thank you card, which also contains a link to a text version of the same subject.

Kody Bateman, the founder and CEO of SendOutCards, has put together an excellent series of video lessons called "Master Relationship Marketing" where he teaches how to follow up properly to build relationships with your customers or clients.  You'll learn how and why to reach out to your clients or prospective clients, how often to reach out and the best format for doing so.

If you're already s SendOutCards customer, you can go to www.sendoutcards.com and sign in using your login and password. Click on Main Menu -> Purchase Products. Go down about 3/4 of the way down the page and look for product #11840 (they're in numerical order) "Master Relationship Marketing Training Portal". If you've purchased the Marketing or Business Bundles, you should have access to the MRM portal. And if you're not a customer, reach out to me and I'll get you set up.

Many of these posts will be about sending various types of greeting cards, although other means of following up will be discussed.

If you have any comments or questions about this post or any of the others in the series, please reach out to me at the link above or leave your comments below.

And if you haven't downloaded the SendOutCards app, go ahead and do so. It's free and if you're not already a SendOutCards customer or distributor the first three cards that you send are on me!
