And the number 1 song of the week is...

Where would we be without pop music charts? I'm not sure how important they are now, but it seemed that life revolved around the top 10 songs of the week when I was young.

Today is Pop Music Chart Day. Pop music charts of some sort, whether a national chart like Billboard Hot 100 or American Top 40, or a local survey of a radio station's audience, formed the basis of top 40 radio.

Check out this webpage, it will tell you the number one song for any date since 1940 and will tell you the songs that were number one on that day every year after that, all the way up until this year. You can then play a medley of all those songs or save an image of a 45 of the song on that date and you can even have it printed on a mug or stein...makes a great gift idea for birthdays or anniversaries!
