Easy ways to save a little $$

I had no idea of what to write today, so I'm borrowing a post from my monthly SendOutCards blog. If you like this post, please click on the link above and sign up for my email list where you can receive an email notifying you when my monthly blog is updated.

9836405_MThere is no point in sugar coating it… living isn’t cheap. We all have our fair share of bills, ranging from the electricity bill to the car payment to the cable bill. We are always looking for ways to save a dollar here and there. Try these simple ways to save – a few dollars at a time.
Coupons. You do not have to go to extremes like some do (who really needs 32 bottles of hairspray?!), but clip the ones you know you will use. If it is not an item that you typically use in your household, do not buy just because you have a coupon! Still $1.00 here and .50 there will add up to a nice savings!
Use internet services for TV. Most everything you watch can be viewed online or with an internet movie site. For a small monthly fee, services such as HULU and Netflix give you many viewing options.
Re-think restaurant visits. Next time your family goes out to eat, pay attention to the price of sodas/tea. For a family of four, ordering water instead of a soda can save you $10 or more. If you have kids, sometimes splitting an adult meal is cheaper than individual kids’ meals. Look for nights that offer special deals, such as BOGO or “kids eat free.”
Buy off-brand. While you will not become a millionaire overnight by eating off-brand cereal, the savings can add up. If there are items that you prefer the name-brand, but you can save money on the others!
Apps. Look for apps that pay you (either in money or coupons) for doing what you would normally do… shopping. Many apps will have you scan certain items using your phone camera while others will have you enter your receipt info. These savings can add up. Since you have to go to the grocery store anyway, you might as well take advantage of it! (I recommend Ibotta - Rick)
As drops of water will eventually fill a bucket up, the same applies to money. A penny here and a penny there will start adding up to dollars. These dollars make you closer to your financial goals… or at least can help pay for a nice vacation on the beach!

Stay tuned for another post about saving money coming up tomorrow.
