The One-Minute Presentation #TBT

This post was originally published last year:

I just finished reading a new "Big Al" book. If you're in network marketing that may mean something to you but if you're not then you're about to find out a little about him.

The book is called "The One-Minute Presentation"...surprise! Its subtitle is "Explain Your Network Marketing Business Like A Pro" by Keith Schreiter and Tom "Big Al" Schreiter. I have several "Big Al" books for Kindle because he often offers them for free on Amazon when they first come out. I got an email about this book but it wasn't free so I actually paid for one of my "Big Al" books.

The basic premise is that we spend too much time trying to give too much information to our prospects and we should get our presentation down to one minute or less.

And instead of our prospects avoiding our vague, evasive invitations to some long, boring event we can instead get almost everyone to listen to our presentations with the following invitation:
“I can give you a complete presentation, but it would take an entire minute. When could you set aside a whole minute?”
Most people will say "Now", so that they can get it over with. Now you have most, if not all, of your prospects ready to listen but how can you get your 30 minute presentation down to only one minute? By answering the three questions that your prospect wants to know:
  1. "What kind of business are you in?"
  2.  "How much money can I make?"
  3. "Exactly what do I have to do to earn this money?"
That's all they really need to know to make a decision as to whether they're interested or not. They don't need to know the company's history or what the compensation plan is or the requirements for rank advancement. They need enough information to decide:
  1. "Yes, I want to join"
  2. "No, I don't want to join"
  3. "I have a question or two"
Fortunately, Keith and "Big Al" give plenty of examples, including one for a greeting card company!

So, if you have a minute to spare, let me tell you all about my opportunity. If not, you can skip down to the "Interesting days".
If you want to earn an extra $400 a month, you would have to do these three things.

Number one: Don’t change. Continue to recommend things that you like, such as your favorite television shows or your favorite discount shopping site.

Number two: We sell greeting cards. Everyone hates going to the store to buy overpriced anniversary cards, birthday cards, thank-you cards, and holiday cards. We show them how to order and send their cards from their computer or smartphone. We print their cards and even put the stamp on for them. Plus, our personalized cards cost less than half of what a generic store-bought card costs!

Number three: All you have to do is this. A few times a week, share the app with someone and help them send their first card. Some people “get it” and say, “Wow!” Some don’t. For those that “get it,” show them how to sign up for our service online.

After a few months, you would earn an extra $400 a month.

So, what do you think?
I changed a couple of words but for the most part that is exactly what they said. And there are dozens of other examples.

You can see that this answers their three questions and now they can decide if they want to join or not. Or if they have more questions. Why spend a half hour explaining everything to someone only to find that they're not interested?

I highly recommend this book. And if you want to join SendOutCards either click on the link here or email me.

I just heard that about 80% of people who get into network marketing are only looking to make a few hundred dollars a month, so this presentation is perfect for them.
