I personally celebrate Christmas and I'm used to sending and receiving Christmas cards. If you prefer to celebrate a different holiday, feel free to substitute the name of your preferred holiday every time you see the word Christmas. I won't mind.
In this day of instant communications it seems that the sending of holiday cards has gone the way of the dodo bird. But is this a good thing? I think not and here are some reasons that sending cards is still relevant in the digital age.
From The Federalist:
You Can Touch a Christmas Card
Not Everyone Lives on Social Media
There Are Ways to Send Christmas Cards Economically
Christmas Cards Offer Opportunities for Reflection and Creativity
Christmas Cards Are Good for the SoulAn ecard is better than nothing, but it's unlikely that the recipient will print it out and put it on the mantel above the Christmas stockings.
If you're in business, it's especially important to send holiday cards, but you need to do it correctly. Here are some tips from All Business:
Don’t forget the basics
Don’t procrastinate
Don’t make a sales pitch
Don’t leave out the gatekeepers
Don’t follow the crowd
Don’t overlook personalization
Don’t forget the rest of the yearObviously, my favorite way to send cards, whether for Christmas or any time of year is with SendOutCards, but how do they compare with some of the other choices?
So, if you haven't sent cards in awhile, or if you've never sent them, why not send some this year? And if you're a card sender, keep it up! You're making the world a brighter place.
