I'll let her tell you in her own words why she's doing this event:
Why I Relay
Why I’m Participating in a Relay For Life Event
Nearly everyone has been touched by cancer, either through their own personal battle or through the battle of someone they love, and this disease has taken too much from too many. I’m participating in the Relay For Life event because I know I am making a difference in the fight to end cancer by raising funds and cancer awareness.
A Relay For Life event is not only a way to join my community to fight back against cancer, but it is also a way to inspire hope by raising funds and cancer awareness to help those facing a diagnosis.
Why I’m Fundraising
By raising funds and walking in a Relay For Life event, I am participating in the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission, and I would really appreciate your support! The funds I raise helps fund important cancer research, supports cancer patient programs and services, and goes toward other important activities that help save lives from cancer.
Why I Volunteer with the American Cancer Society
I know I've been touched by cancer in my life. I lost my mom to lung cancer a little more than 15 years ago. I've also lost my grandmother, a cousin, other family and friends over the years and I think this is a very important cause.By walking in a Relay For Life event I join more than four million global volunteers who are dedicated to finishing the fight against cancer. This is my opportunity to honor the cancer survivors in my life, remember friends and family I have lost, and to raise funds to support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission.
Please join my team or make a donation in support of my efforts. Thank you!
Together, we WILL finish the fight!
Please help me support Elizabeth's fundraising efforts. I know I'll be donating on Thursday of this week and I hope you'll make a donation too, to help Elizabeth help fight cancer! Last year, she walked over 25,000 steps and I can tell you that's quite a lot of walking.
And for anyone who reads this post and donates to Elizabeth before the deadline on May 12th, I will send this gift to you for helping Elizabeth give hope to others. Just click here to go to her fundraising page and then let me know that you donated.
