From Wikipedia:
Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire. Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States. What will you be doing to celebrate? I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet...I may go to the movies and watch Independence Day: Resurgence, which opened on June 24th. There are no local fireworks displays this year! Modesto has a parade at 9:30 followed by a:
4th of July All American Festival
Tenth Street Plaza
1010 10th Street
Activities for Kids, Live Music,
Food and Craft Booths
Food and Craft Booths
11 AM - 3 PM
The parade is a little early for me, since I don't usually go to bed until about 5 or 6 AM. The festival sounds interesting since they have free scoops of ice cream for veterans, although I don't have my DD214 so I may be out of luck!Interesting days
