We've talked about vision, mission and goals

We've talked about vision, mission and goals. Today w're going to talk about objectives, and more specifically about SMART objectives.

An objective is a more detailed form of a goal.

We had an example of a goal on Monday of "A trip to Europe in June of next year is his goal".

So, how can we make this more specific? How about he will go to Spain, Portugal and Italy for 3 weeks beginning on June 1st.

How can it be measured? How about he needs to save $5,000 by the beginning of May? Or he must purchase his tickets 6 months before the trip?

Is it achievable? Is it possible for him to save the money needed? It may not be achievable if he's terrified of flying

How about relevant? Or sometimes also shown as realistic. Is this something that he really wants to do? Or is it part of a larger goal? This could be a business trip or a major family vacation.

Time bound. We have a couple of examples of that above.

So, he will go to Spain, Portugal and Italy for 3 weeks beginning on June 1st. He will purchase the tickets by January 1st. This is a family trip that he and his wife had been looking forward to for years. They will be bringing their kids.
