The 5 Principles of Moonlighting Success

This is a very fascinating, albeit long, post from The Art of Manliness so I'll just touch on the highlights here. You can click on the link above for the full article (which I highly recommend).

Moonlighting Success Principle #1: Make the Most of Your Spare Time (You’ve Got More of It Than You Think)

We all have many hours, although not always in a row, that we can use to build a side business or work at a side job. Your goal is to stop (or at least reduce) your time wasting activities, such as TV, internet, etc.

A network marketing business is usually easy to fit into those little pockets of time that you have during the day.

Moonlighting Success Principle #2: Consistently Maximize the Time You Do Have

Work consistently and diligently to get you to where you want to be.

Moonlighting Success Principle #3: Try to Make the Best of Your Day Job (It May Have More Advantages Than You Think)

Don't give up your day job! At least, not right away. Having a job can provide a base to work from...whether financially or psychologically.  It's often difficult to concentrate on what you love to do if you have to worry about where your next meal is coming from.

Moonlighting Success Principle #4: Be Patient and Take Things Step-by-Step

Don't rush! You don't need to quit your day job right away. Give your side hustle time to develop. It often takes quite a bit of time for your job or business to develop. And even if you do see substantial growth right away, you want to give it time to mature and to get past the growing pains.

Moonlighting Success Principle #5: Don’t Make Excuses About Circumstances and Distractions — Just Get Going and Stay Going!

As Nike says: "Just do it!". And as they say in network marketing "Any excuse will do". If you really want to make a go of your side job or business, don't make excuses as to why you can't do it. Just get started and do it.

There are many choices for a side job or side business. I'm very partial to network marketing because as I said under #1 above, it's easy to fit it into the idle moments of your life. It's also inexpensive to get started...usually less than $1,000 and often quite a bit less. And you can get tax write offs that aren't available if you get a job. There are many great companies out there to choose from but I highly recommend the company that I'm involved with: SendOutCards...it only costs $50 to start your business, there's no inventory to deal with, it can be operated entirely from your smartphone and it's a product that nearly everyone in the world enjoys receiving and sending!
