What is Periscope?

No, not what is a periscope, but what is Periscope? Periscope is the new social media sensation and I'm going to tell you a little bit about it and hopefully you'll be able to see a demo in a few minutes.

There is an excellent article in Wired Magazine that you can read if you'd like to learn more, plus I'll share a few more resources with you.

Basically Periscope is video broadcasting on demand. When you start broadcasting your followers are notified and they can join in to see what you're doing and comment while you're broadcasting. When I did my demo broadcast a few minutes ago, Steve Gullett joined me live, on his smart phone I'm assuming, and 5 others viewed via the web. And one person, Greg Pixls, has watched the replay so far. Replays are saved for 24 hours on the system but you can save the video to your phone...I hope I had enough memory to save my video!

It looks like it worked. It's been uploaded at least but I haven't looked at it yet.

Caren Glasser has some excellent info on Spark It Network...be sure to check it out!

The app works on both Apple and Android...just go to www.periscope.tv to find out more.

Interesting days

Today - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/swim-a-lap-day/ The longest lap I ever swam was a 1/4 mile when I did the Triathlon at Pacific Grove almost 8 years ago. It's also https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/fairy-day/ and https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/pralines-day/ I guess I better go find some. Pralines that is...not fairies

Tomorrow - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/global-beatles-day/ All you need is love! And maybe a little strawberry parfait. Let's not forget https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/catfish-day/ I think I just saw something on Facebook about the world's biggest catfish being caught and if it was on FB you know that it must be true. It's also https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/color-tv-day/ How many of you remember when a program broadcast in color was a big deal?

Next Wednesday - It's both https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/postal-worker-day/ and https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/zip-code-day/ I remember postal zones. We lived in Oakland 19, California before it became Oakland, CA 94619. And without the postal workers I wouldn't be able to have my SendOutCards business...so thank you! It's also https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/international-joke-day/ Did you hear the one about...? Never mind, I'm sure you've heard it. Let's not forget https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/second-half-of-the-year-day/ Did you accomplish everything that you'd planned in the first half? And it's https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/canada-day/ Be sure to send a card to your friends in the Great White North. And last but far from least, it's https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/creative-ice-cream-flavors-day/ Do you have a creative flavor that you enjoy?

July 24 - Another humorous day...https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/tell-an-old-joke-day/. And it's https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/cousins-day/...I'm sure you told a lot of old jokes to your cousins when you were kids. Although they may not have been old at the time. Let's all pile into the car and celebrate https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/drive-thru-day/ which I celebrate pretty much everyday...however I'm looking for my own place and I may cook at home occasionally. It's also https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/tequila-day/ With lime and salt? Straight shot? In a margarita? I say yes to all of the above.
