Normally I can't go to his MMA main event because it runs from 7:15 - 8:30 PM and I have to be at work at 7:00. But this week I don't have to be at work until 9:00 PM and his meeting is only about a mile from work.
I left home at about 5:15 to allow time to stop at Dunkin' Donuts on the way since I had 3 free drink rewards, so I figured it was a good time to cash one in and grab a couple of donuts. I was just getting ready to get on a SendOutCards call by my upline, Mark Herdering, when my phone rang. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail. Turns out it was Denise from the apartment complex where I live. There was water flooding from my apartment to the apartment downstairs. I was only about 15 - 20 minutes from home, so I headed back...no SOC call or MMA for me last night, although it was beginning to sound like a good excuse for missing work.
When I got home, Donnie...one of the maintenance guys, and Maria...the manager, were cleaning up the rest of the water off the kitchen floor. Luckily nothing major was damaged, but my plastic bags under the sink were goners ðŸ˜...if you don't live in California, you don't know how sad that is!
A little while later the carpet guy showed up, pulled back the carpet and removed the padding underneath. He cleaned up the water in the living room and left some fans blowing all night to dry out the carpets.
So, I was able to still make it to work on time. And there is a recording for Mark's call.
What has all of this got to do with doing dishes? I thought you'd never ask! As I was getting ready to leave I noticed that I didn't put the plates from my George Foreman grill in the sink to soak, since I'd used it to make a couple of cheeseburgers for lunch. I'd only intended to run the water for a few seconds to allow the sink to fill up but somehow I got distracted getting ready for work and I walked out the door with the water running. I'm not sure what my water bill is going to be but I think 30 - 40 minutes of running hot water is going to cost a little bit of money...as well as the carpet restoration.
