Years ago, one of my handles on CompuServe CB (does anyone remember that?) was "Intrepid Adventurer" because intrepid means bold; fearless; brave and I've always liked the idea of being an adventurer and in fact a friend of mine, Allan Cobb, created a comic strip called Jet Set Rick that was based on a comic strip in the Computer Currents newspaper during the 80's. The character wore a fedora, a la Indiana Jones, but was more of a computer geek (I had a fedora and was a computer geek). At that time I was known to jump on a jet for a weekend getaway to places like Ft. Lauderdale so Allan modified the comic strip to make it more about my jet setting adventures.
At that time I was also pondering the differences between an intrepid adventurer and an intrepid hero and Star Wars provided the perfect vehicle for the comparisons. With Han Solo providing the prototype for the adventurer and Luke Skywalker the prototype for the hero:
Han Solo (adventurer):
Was in it for the money
Cared only about himself (and Chewie)
Got the girl
I'm sure there were more but that's what I can remember at this time.
Luke Skywalker (hero):
Was in it because it was the right thing to do
Cared deeply about others
The girl was his sister
In the end, Han cared about the princess and her fight against the Empire but in the beginning he was only interested in the money, keeping himself alive from the many foes that were after him and the girl.
Life is an adventure, if we are intrepid enough to live it as such. But too many of us, myself included (at times), see it as a struggle. But as I posted on Facebook yesterday:
So, become an intrepid adventurer and live life the way it was meant to be lived...as an adventure.
I've been listening to the audio version of the book "Beach Money" by Jordan Adler and he was talking about writing a journal. He said to picture your ideal life and to write about it as if it's already happened...and to write as much detail as possible, that is who, what, when and where.
Your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between what's real or not. If you tell yourself something over and over again, your subconscious will accept it as true. This is where a lot of our self image problems come in...if you hear something often enough, whether from yourself or others, you believe it and it becomes who you are.
So, how can we overcome the negative programming that we've been receiving over the years? With I Am statements! What are I Am statements? I wrote a little bit about them in September 2014 when I wrote about Vision. Basically, it's like I said above...you write about something as if it's already happened...I am healthy, I am happy, I am living in the house of my dreams with the love of my life. Write it in your journal. Read a few pages of it every night for a year, then set it aside. Read it again in a few years and see how much your life reflects what you had written.
This is where the Law of Attraction comes in...your subconscious mind begins to search for the things that will support its new vision of who you are and you'll begin to attract those things into your life. Be sure to read the blog post above to see my take on the law of attraction.

The marriage between Mark Herdering and Rebecca Randall was a practical joke apparently and I'm guessing the other marriage between Terry Masson and Tiffany Albro is also not true. So, just ignore that part of yesterday's post. Although the rest of it is still valid.
There are 3 main SendOutCards events this year. The main International Convention in September, various Bootcamps at different times and locations and the all new Promptings Academy...I think there are 4 or 5 of these this year. As I said yesterday, I've already been to a bootcamp and I already have my hotel room and ticket to go to the Promptings Academy in Las Vegas in July, so I didn't go on the bootcamp at sea. But this sounds like it will be an annual event and I don't intend to miss it again.
I'm sure most of my peers remember "The Love Boat" but for those of you who aren't familiar with it, it was an American TV show that ran from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. It followed the crew of a cruise ship, the Pacific Princess, and the romantic adventures of the crew and passengers. The passengers were often big name celebrities, like Jim Backus (I'm surprised he went back to sea after being stuck on "Gilligan's Island" for three seasons), Don Knotts, and Patty Duke, to name just a few. As well as newcomers, such as Tom Hanks.
And speaking of The Love Boat, quite a few of my SendOutCards friends are on a "SOC Bootcamp at Sea" training event. I couldn't make it since I've just moved and had to pay for the U-Haul, deposits on the apartment and AT&T, etc. But it looks like the sea air did its magic...there were at least two weddings today (it's Saturday evening as I write this) in Ensenada Mexico. The first one was with my good friend and SOC upline, Mark Herdering and Rebecca Randall, who I don't really know other than hearing her name on the weekly SendOutCards calls. The second was a guy I met at the SOC Bootcamp (not at sea) in Las Vegas last year, Terry Masson...his new bride is also in SOC but it's somebody I don't know...Tiffany Albro. I'm not sure if these weddings were planned in advance or they happened spontaneously. I'd actually contemplated being Terry's roommate on the cruise several months ago. It's probably a good thing now. I would've probably ended up sleeping in a lifeboat.
An interesting facet is that both of these are transcontinental romances. Mark lives in Portland, OR and Rebecca lives in New Orleans...definitely a culture shock for one of them. Terry lives a couple hundred miles outside Vancouver, BC while Tiffany lives in Traverse City, MI. Good luck to both of the couples.
