Dream like a kid again
When we were little we were encouraged to use our imaginations and that we could be whatever we wanted to be when we grew up. We could be ballerinas, princesses, cowboys, astronauts, the president of the United States or even princess ballerinas or cowboy astronauts. However, over the years our dreams were discouraged and we were forced to fit into the corporate/education complex mold.
Our educational system is a breeding ground for future corporate employees, and when the current school systems were created we were trained to be factory workers. We learn to move from place to place as the bells ring, we are taught to sit in one place for hours at a time and we learn to endure brain numbing work.
Even though the workplace has changed over the past 100 years, the educational system still turns out factory workers but unfortunately there aren't as many factory jobs left. If you go onto college, there are more opportunities to get away from factory jobs but now people are trained for white collar jobs.
There are still classes that you can take that don't funnel you into the corporate world but you can't get a job with most of those certificates or degrees.
By the time we get out of school, most of our dreams have faded away and we're left with the "American Dream"...a steady job; a spouse and 3.2 kids; a house with a white picket fence with a mortgage (which literally means "death pledge") and trying to figure out how to pay off our student loans, which are another kind of "death pledge" because you rarely make enough money to pay off your student debt.
We all know deep down that there's more to life than that but we're afraid to dream because once we enter school our dreams are either frowned upon or laughed at unless they line up with the "American Dream".
But what if we start dreaming like a kid again? What if we have dreams about becoming an astronaut? If you want to be an astronaut you can join the Virgin Galactic program. How about president of the United States? Well, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But what if you dream of travel, adventure, romance? Then think outside the box. Color outside the lines. Quit being a rat and get out of the rat race. There are ways to learn to dream again and to finance your dreams, and one of the best ways to accomplish both is through a home based business.
If you'd like to learn more about the opportunity that I'm involved with, just email me.

Is it a frap or frappe?
It's late Sunday night and I'm watching an episode of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and it was pronounced fra-pay but there are two schools of thought on this. If it's spelled with an accent over the e (which I can't recreate here), it's pronounced fra-pay but without an accent it's pronounced frap. But what is this beverage that has sparked this debate?
There are a few beverages that use this name...one is a milkshake in the New England area (pronounced frap), an iced coffee beverage that is pronounced either way depending on where you go. According to the commercials, it's pronounced frappe at McDonald's (and it is spelled with an accent).
So, now I'll probably be celebrating Labor Day with a chocolate chip frappe from McDonald's.
As you can see, when I have no idea what I'm going to write about anything will do. I had thought about doing an article on Labor Day but I already did one last year.
Tomorrow - Another Look Unlimited Day, Fight Procrastination Day and Read a Book Day
Next Monday - Boss/Employee Exchange Day, Video Games Day, Programmers' Day and Chocolate Milk Shake Day
October 5 - Country Inn Bed & Breakfast Day, World Teachers Day and Chic Spy™ Day This is quite serendipitous because although a certain Mr. Bond is the best known of the chic spies, the above mentioned Man from U.N.C.L.E. is another one (or two since there were two lead characters) and there is also a James Bond marathon going on right now on Starz Encore. And how about Mr. Steed of "The Avengers" and there's an episode running right now on COZI (which I've never heard of before). And let's not forget "Secret Agent" John Drake and the uber cool theme song "Secret Agent Man"

Cashflow 101 #TBT
This post is from this day last year.
I've written about this a few times before, here's the most recent post, but I'm writing about it again because it ties in with yesterday's blog post.
Dennis Beckman, whom I mentioned yesterday, hosts a monthly Cashflow game. He uses the game to explain the concepts he teaches, so it's not quite the typical Cashflow game. If you want to learn about the infinite banking concept that Dennis teaches in a fun environment, join his game on the 4th Saturday of every month in San Ramon, CA. Here's the link and description:
If you have an IRA or 401k and you're anywhere near the age of 59 1/2, then you need to talk to Dennis now! I'll be talking to him in the next month or so. Dennis offers free consultations and he sells a book that further explains the concepts he teaches. If anybody joins my business with me during the months of September or October, I'll buy the book for them. It's a $25 value!
UPDATE: I went to Dennis' game this past Saturday. It's the first time I've gone in a few months.
I cashed out my 401k when I hit 59 1/2 and paid off some loans. It's really helped my cashflow. I'm implementing some of the strategies that Dennis teaches but I've got a ways to go. As far as the free books, SendOutCards has changed it's commission structure but if anybody purchases a bundle - Personal, Marketing or Business in September or October I'll buy the book for you and you can check it out.

Meet other local fans of the financial board game of CashFlow 101/202 by Kiyosaki. We'll be exploring some interesting concepts to enhance the practical application of the game. You won't look at the world of finance & investing the same way again! If you have a copy of the game please bring it along. We usually get more then one going at a time. Danville CashFlow Game Meetup - EastBayPlus Cash Flow club is an official RichDad Cash Flow club. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children at this location. If we find a different venue that is more "kid-friendly" then that, of course, can change. Let's have some FUN!
