San Diego SendOutCards Opportunity Presentation & Training

I'm heading down to San Diego tomorrow for this SendOutCards event. Vanessa Hunter, SOC VP of Marketing and a network marketing veteran, is a very dynamic speaker. Check out this video of her keynote speech at the 2014 SendOutCards convention on empowering women.

And Jordan Adler is a legend in the network marketing industry, although he wasn't always that way. In fact, he was involved in 11 companies in ten years and never made a dime. He is the number 1 earner in SendOutCards and was #81 worldwide according to this survey from January of last year. He is also the author of a great book called "Beach Money".

Practice makes...

We've all heard the saying

But does it really? Perhaps it's more accurate to say

Perfect practice may make perfect, but imperfect practice makes imperfect...either way it's made permanent. The key is to practice smartly.

So, how do you practice smartly? I think the first step is to practice mindfully...that is, know what you want to accomplish in your practice and then practice with that goal in mind. Also, practice slowly enough that you can make sure that your practice is doing what you want. If you make a mistake, stop at that point and correct what you're doing before you go on.

Also, be consistent in your practicing. Practice at the same time and the same place every day.

In the book "Outliers", Malcolm Gladwell talks about something called the "10,000-Hour Rule" which states that it takes 10,000 hours of "deliberate practice" to achieve an elite level in most endeavors. How do you get to 10,000 hours? One way is by practicing deliberately 3 hours a day, 7 days a week, 50 weeks a year for a total of 1,050 hours a year. In 10 years, you would accumulate 10,500 hours.

Is there anything in your life that you'd want to achieve an elite level? Art? Music? A business? If so, start practicing deliberately and before you know it you'll be there.

Let's share

This post is about the difference between sharing, liking and commenting on Facebook posts.

Liking a FB post is very easy to do..you just click on Like and that's it. The fact that you liked a post will appear on your newsfeed and others can see it, but it takes very little effort and it's reflected in the ranking of Likes vs Comments vs Shares.

The ranking is figured into the EdgeRank algorithm that Facebook uses to control who gets to see your posts. The more that someone interacts with your posts, the more that they will see.

According to Antonio Calero, if a Like is ranked as a 1, then Comments are ranked as a 7. If you take the time to actually comment on a post, then that indicates that the post is of more value to you.

And clicking on Share is twice as valuable as a Comment and 14 times more valuable than a Like. If you click on Share, you're telling your friends that they need to check this out. And you will see more of the posts from the person whom you shared their post.

When I share a FB post, I will usually thank the person who posted the item that I'm sharing and then include a comment about the post. By putting their name after the @ it will do two things...my friends will be able to see who originated the post and maybe follow them and the fact that I shared the post will appear on the originator's newsfeed and their friends may in turn want to follow me.

Here's a recent example:

Now my friends can see that I like what Marie had to say and that she may be somebody worth getting to know and Marie's friends can see that I'm awesome enough to like what she has to say and that maybe they should follow me.

Meet Irving

This is Irving. He is the Amazon Locker located outside the 7-Eleven at 3760 Hopyard Rd, Pleasanton CA 94588-8507. All of the Amazon Lockers have names.

I found out about Amazon Lockers when I was delivering packages for UPS this past Christmas season; and since people have been wondering about the security of packages left on their porches or have even had packages stolen out of their mailboxes, I thought I'd share this with you.

About Amazon Locker

Amazon Locker provides you with a self-service delivery location to pick up and return your Amazon.com packages. Lockers are currently available in a variety of locations throughout the U.S.

Instead of delivering a package to your home or business address, you can select an Amazon Locker location and pick up your package at a time that's convenient for you. Once your package is delivered to the Amazon Locker, you'll receive an e-mail notification with a unique pickup code that includes the address and opening times for your selected Locker location.

When you arrive to collect your package, enter your pickup code or scan the barcode using the barcode scanner and follow the instructions on the screen.

All packages delivered to Amazon Locker locations must be picked up within three business days. If you're not able to collect your package within this timeframe, the package will be returned to us for a refund.

If you have feedback about your experience with Amazon Locker, you can submit it through the Amazon Locker Customer Survey.

The locker consists of quite a few compartments of various sizes. When you use the Amazon Locker option at checkout, it instructs UPS or other vendor to take that package to the locker. The driver scans the barcode on the shipping label and the correct sized compartment door opens automatically. The package is placed inside and Amazon will then email a special code to you. When you go to the locker and enter your code, or scan the barcode that is included in the email, the locker opens automatically.

That's all there is to it. Your packages are much more secure this way and it doesn't cost you any extra to use this service.
