Improve Your Breathing, Improve Your Health

This blog post is based on a podcast from The Art of Manliness.

My breathing is really bad and has been for as long as I can remember. I tend to breathe very shallowly and I often stop breathing for a few seconds at a time. In fact, almost everyone over the age of about 5 breathes incorrectly, and that usually starts with "Stand up straight, stomach in, chest out", although maybe not as badly as I do.

I tend to not sleep very well, my digestion is bad (but that could be from my diet) and I often have neck and shoulder pains...these can all be caused or worsened by breathing incorrectly.

According to the podcast:
Breathing is the link between body and mind.
This is the key to yoga and ayurvedic breathing. I've toyed with these a little bit. But I did download the Kindle book: Breathe by Belisa Vranich who was the guest on the podcast.

The book contains a 14 day program to improve your breathing. I'm going to try it out and let you know how it goes.

The podcast was actually pretty interesting. It lasts about 45 minutes, but go ahead and check it out.

Do your habits match your dreams?

This post is based on a SendOutCards Leadership Call from July 17, 2017.

The best things in life take some effort to get them, whether it is health, happiness, or learning a new skill. There is no such thing as the "status quo", so if you're not growing, you're decaying.

If what you're doing doesn't get you out of your comfort zone, there won't be any growth. No pain, no gain. That doesn't only apply when you're building your muscles, anything worthwhile requires some stretching beyond the point of comfort.

What are your dreams and goals? Are you doing the uncomfortable things that you need to be doing to accomplish them?

Most people have uphill dreams...their dreams (like any good dream or goal), requires effort;  but they have downhill habits...they don't do the things they need to do to grow into those dreams. A goal, or dream, isn't about what you'll have when you accomplish it, but it's about who you'll become in order to accomplish it.

So, go after your dreams. But realize that it may be a long, uphill effort to get to them but you'll have a much better view ahead of you when you get to the top of that hill.

Relationship marketing for #realtors

This past Wednesday, Kody Bateman, the Founder and CEO of SendOutCards, interviewed three realtors via a Zoom conference.

The three realtors were Gayle Zientek out of Michigan, Jim McCord out of Kentucky and Jay McHugh out of Massachusetts,

I've seen all three of these realtors speak live about building their businesses using relationship marketing.

From the conference announcement:

You’ll hear how Gayle increased her referral business from 30% to 99% and tripled her sales in 4 years, how Jay surpassed 1 billion in sales with over 400 agents and 3,900 transactions last year, and how Jim took his average listing price from $200k to over $1 million.
Here's the link to the video of that conference.

The information in the conference, even though tailored to realtors, is valuable to any business owner or sales professional.

I have recordings of actual presentations from Jim, Gayle, and Jay that I will be sharing at each of the next three SendOutCards Super Saturdays in Modesto. The Super Saturdays are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month, so the next three will be on August 12, September 9 and October 14. I'll present the videos in the following order: Jim McCord, Jay McHugh and Gayle Zientek.

I was at the events in the recordings by Gayle and Jay, but I was at a different event from the one in Jim's recording.

Jim also has written a book on the subject called "A Revolution in Real Estate Sales".

So, check out the video and if you have any questions, feel free to email me.

I am a network marketing professional #TBT

This post is from 2 years ago:

Yesterday Eric Worre, a network marketing trainer, came out with a video on "What do we call ourselves?".

A lot of people go by the term direct sellers, but as Eric pointed out we really don't sell directly to the consumer anymore. Now we usually connect a customer with our company and the customer orders from the company's website and the company ships directly to the customer. We still get our commission but we don't sell directly to the customer anymore...not like when my Mom sold Avon when I was a kid. She would go to customers' houses in her territory, show them what was available, take their order, place the order with the company, get several large boxes from Avon, put each customer's items in bags and deliver them to their home.

Multi level marketing, or MLM, describes how we get paid not what we do. We don't market to multiple levels but we get paid on multiple levels.

Like Eric I think the best term for what we do is "network marketing" because we share our products and services with our friends and family...our network. And every person has a unique network that nobody else shares which is what makes network marketing such a great tool not only for the network marketer but for the network marketing company as well.

As Eric says at the end of every video "My wish for you is that you becoming a network marketing professional because it is a stone cold fact that we have a better way". And I agree 100%.

I am a network marketing professional! And I love what I'm doing.

And like I wrote about here, direct sellers and network marketers need to think differently.
