Mirror, mirror #TBT

Since Sunday was Compliment Your Mirror Day, I figured it was a good time to share this post from April again:

I'm reposting one of my favorite blog posts. I have some new readers and I thought they'd find it interesting (plus I hadn't written anything new!).

Go ahead. Look in the mirror. What do you see? No, look beyond the wonderful person we both know you are. Look deeper. What do you see? A network marketer!

Even if you've sworn that you'd never be a network marketer, you do it all the time.

Whenever you tell (market) your friends and family (your network) about a product or service, you're network marketing.

Imagine that you just saw the greatest movie ever created. What do you do? You tell everyone you know about it. So, what happens? A few people find your taste in movies questionable and they don't see it. A few others don't have the money to see it. A few are boycotting the movie studio and refuse to see anything they put out. But a few go to see it because you recommended it. The studio makes more money because of you. But do they even thank you?

Now suppose this was a progressive studio and they pay you a small portion of each of the tickets that your friends purchase. Nice! But it gets better! They pay you for every ticket they purchase for the rest of their lives! That's known as residual income. But wait! There's more! Some of your friends like the movie so much that they tell their friends who tell their friends…and you get paid for all of those tickets purchased for the rest of their lives. That's leveraged residual income.

When your friends tell you about some great product or service that they love and want you to watch a video about it, don't go running away. Even if you're not interested in a business opportunity, it just may end up being a product that you'll love, too. So go ahead and check out the video. And then look in the mirror again. Yes, you're a network marketer.

Do you like to “move it, move it”? Moving tips

This post is from my SendOutCards blog. Check it out and sign up for my free mailing list and receive emails when my semi-monthly blog entries are posted.

29864160_M“I like to move it, move it!’ is a fun song until it is literal, because no one likes to “move it” when it comes to household belongings. Is a move to a new location on the horizon for you? Unless you have found a magical packing fairy that will do the move for you, you are going to want to be as organized as possible!
Moving can be exciting – but it can be stressful too. With all of the other things for you to focus on (like finding a new home, finalizing the little details and helping the kids prepare), packing can be a huge burden. Here are some helpful tips to make that part of your move as smooth as possible.
Label, label, label! This could be the most important part… you cannot go into too much detail with this! Not only should you label what the contents are and to whom they belong, but also remember to label what room it should go in. This will help the movers (or yourself!) remember when it is time to unload. You may also want to use a numbering system (Box 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc.) to keep track of how many should go into each room.
Start early. Some items, such as undergarments and shampoo cannot be packed up ahead of time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start early on the other things. Items in the curio cabinet, DVDs, seasonal clothing and holiday decor can be packed and set aside ahead of time. It is never too early to start going through toys and closets, weeding out things that are not going to be taken with you.
Keep inventory. You do not have to notate every pair of socks that go into the box, but do keep a list of how many boxes and what the general contents are. This will make it easier to know if everything made it to the new location. It does not have to be fancy… a simple list with “Joey-pants/shorts – 2 boxes” will work.
Wrap it like you mean it! While you may use utmost care packing your breakables, and a reputable moving company will too, accidents are a possibility. What if you have to slam on your brakes during the drive to your new place? The lever on the back of the seat doesn’t care if it pokes a hole in your nice flat screen! There can never be too much padding. Start saving bubble wrap, old blankets/towels and old socks months before you move. They can protect your items and be tossed after the move is complete!
These simple tips will have your move a stress free as moving can be. When it gets rough, just stop and think about all the fun you will have exploring a new place!

Happy #4thOfJuly

The 4th of July, also known as Independence Day, is one of the biggest U.S. celebrations.

From Wikipedia:
Independence Day of the United States, also referred to as the Fourth of July or July Fourth in the U.S., is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British EmpireIndependence Day is commonly associated with fireworksparadesbarbecuescarnivalsfairspicnicsconcertsbaseball gamesfamily reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.
What will you be doing to celebrate? I'm not sure what I'll be doing yet...I may go to the movies and watch Independence Day: Resurgence, which opened on June 24th. There are no local fireworks displays this year! Modesto has a parade at 9:30 followed by a:

4th of July All American Festival
Tenth Street Plaza
1010 10th Street
Activities for Kids, Live Music,
Food and Craft Booths
11 AM - 3 PM
The parade is a little early for me, since I don't usually go to bed until about 5 or 6 AM. The festival sounds interesting since they have free scoops of ice cream for veterans, although I don't have my DD214 so I may be out of luck!
