Wow! #TBT

Today's blog post was originally published last year:

The first day of the Relationship Marketing Grand Summit ended a little while ago and if you weren't there, you really missed our!

There were a total of 13 speakers, besides Kody Bateman...the founder of SendOutCards.

And tomorrow will be about the same. And it's not too late to signup...the replay will be available for 72 hours, so you'll have a chance to watch the whole thing over the weekend.

There's too much to go over but I'll give you a few highlights:

There was a problem with the sound for the first speaker, Bruce Marshall, but they say it should be fixed in the replay.

The second speaker was Bernadette McClelland and her topic was "Finding Your Brave" and the thing I found most memorable was something her 14 year old son said to her "Everything works out in the end. If it doesn't work out, it's not the end". Very profound words from such a young man.

Next up was the first workshop presenter of the day, Callie Teegardin. Callie's workshop was on how to get your next 100...that is, how to get more people in your funnel. There was a lot of information in her presentation. I'm going to try to get her to present this at an upcoming meeting of "A Leg Up" Lunch and Learn. She did talk about 3 steps to help you build your list:

  1. Be unique
  2. Give more than you take
  3. Act on your promptings
Larry Levine talked about Selling From The Heart, the title of his book. Larry was a speaker at last year's RMGS. An interesting comment that I didn't originally pick up was "Business is personal". Kody picked up on it and said that it used to be "It's not personal, it's just business". Now it's "It's not just business, it's personal:.

Another interesting idea was from Jerome Gafford..."We're all in the transportation business. We find out where our clients are and where they want to be. Then we provide them with the vehicle to get them there".

There were a few other speakers in there and I'll talk about them next week.

The last speaker of the day was Kody's best friend for the last 45 years, Super Dave Smith. Super Dave talked about a subsidiary of SendOutCards called Sendogo. Dave is the general manager of that company. Sendogo allows people who use a standalone CRM, such as Salesforce, to be able to use SendOutCards. And Dave and Kody hinted at some of the products that will be announced in January. You may have seen my Facebook post with a picture of MacGyver that said "Super Dave MacGyver". Kody called Super Dave MacGyver, so that's where that post came from.

Like I said, it's not too late to sign up. Day 2 will start at 9:00 AM MDT, and replays for both days will be available for 72 hours.

I haven't heard anything about a RMGS being scheduled for this year...maybe next year.

How much does it cost to become a Greener Still affiliate?

Well, with taxes, shipping, handling and dealer prep charges the total amount comes to exactly zero dollars (and zero cents) for a period of 12 months!

This offer was announced Monday night and it is available to all new and existing customers beginning tomorrow at 6:00 PM MDT.

This free affiliate program is somewhat limited in the tools available, for instance it doesn't include the GS Pro app which is an app that makes it easier to share Greener Still with your friends and family, but it does come with the 7 Greener Still websites such as the main Greener Still site. You can see a list of all the tools under the Affiliate Tools tab at the top of the page.

If you want the full range of affiliate tools, you can upgrade to a Pro affiliate for $14 per month...there is no commitment, you can downgrade or quit at any time.

While you're on the website above, check out the compensation plan videos on the left under the Affiliate Tools tab and the Affiliate Promotions at the far right of the same tab to learn more on the ways you can make some extra money, especially now that we're entering the holiday season...which is our most lucrative time of the year.

I'm sure I'll share more about this next week but to find out more, check out this Live presentation coming up tomorrow at 7:00 PM MDT. There is no need to pre-register but it will ask you for your name and email address. If you can't make that one, there is another one on Friday at noon MDT...use this link for Friday's presentation.

Being a Man in the Lousy Modern World

Today's blog post is based on a podcast from The Art of Manliness:

Emerson famously said “society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members.”

My guest today says things have gotten a lot worse since Emerson uttered those words over a century and a half ago. His name is Robert Twigger. We last had him on the show to discuss his book Micromastery. Today we discuss a book he wrote 20 years ago called Being a Man in the Lousy Modern World. We begin our conversation discussing how the modern world infantilizes men so they’re easier to control, and whether Robert thinks things have changed since he initially published the book. We then dig into the four factors Robert says need to be in place for a man to feel like a man, and why experiencing these qualities has become harder to do in the present age. We then discuss what Robert did to counter the currents of modern malaise like hiking the Pyrenees mountains and learning a martial art, and whether doing those things actually made him feel manlier. We end our conversation with what men can do to start fighting back against the conspiracy against their manhood.

Here are the highlights from the program:

  • The impetus for this book when Robert wrote it 20 years ago
  • What is it about the modern world that makes manliness feel obsolete?
  • How the modern world keeps us perpetually children
  • The 4 factors to be in place for a man to really be a man
  • Watered down modern rituals
  • Is courage truly rare? How do we test ourselves?
  • What is it about handiness that makes you feel manly?
  • Violence and manliness
  • Passivity vs. action
  • Society’s disservice to boys and men
  • How to find courage, rites of passage, and adventure in our world
  • Do these self-made rites of passage make a difference in your psyche?
  • What Robert’s kids thought about the book
  • What can men do today to start feeling more masculine?

Warren Buffett's 4 Rules For Success

Today's blog post is based on a column by Harvey Mackay

I love to study creative and successful people. And who better than Warren Buffet, the Omaha multi-billionaire and chairman of Berkshire, Hathaway, Inc.

He recently listed the four common-sense principles that contributed to his mega success, and here’s my take on his formula for prosperity. Unfortunately, they are not commonly practiced.
  1. Choose your friends wisely.
  2. Continuous learning.
  3. Improve your communication skills.
  4. The ability to say no.
Mackay’s Moral: One more Buffett gem: “You only have to do a few things right in your life so long as you don’t do too many things wrong.”

I'm sure that you've heard that you're the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. Here's a blog post on the subject.

Prompting U can help you with numbers 2 & 3.

I thought I had written a post about saying no, but I can't find it. But "Just say no"!

As for the quote from Warren Buffett, check out this blog post.

Be sure to read the entire column and you'll find out things such as why communication can be so difficult (one reason is that the 500 most common English words have 14,000 different meanings...an average of 28 meanings for each word!).
